About me and my therapy practice

About me and my Therapy Practice

You may be thinking about counselling for the first time or you may have had counselling before. You may be feeling uncertain about your relationships with others or about how to cope with life events. I am a registered and accredited counsellor and I can offer you a confidential, non-judgemental space to talk, helping you to explore the things that are the most important to you and the choices which may be available. Working at your own pace and without a pre-set agenda, your voice will be listened to with respect and compassion. Please visit my website:  www.annmariemoseleycounselling.com

Having lived my whole life in North London, I have gained a solid understanding of the pressures and issues faced by many in society today. Family relationships, stress, anxiety and depression, managing a healthy work/life balance and worries and uncertainties about the future affect us all at different times within our lives.

Through my experience of working with children and young people in educational settings and with my ongoing work with Childline (NSPCC), I have developed a clear insight into how influences and opportunities (or lack of) develop and affect how we see ourselves and the world around us.

As a counsellor, I warmly welcome clients from all backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, genders and sexualities. I also warmly welcome clients who have physical disabilities or specific learning needs such as aspergers/autism (please contact me to discuss your requirements).

I adhere to the BACP Ethical framework (code of standards, ethics and good practice) and commit to ongoing continuing professional development, broadening my knowledge and understanding of issues relevant to clients today across a wide spectrum of emotional and mental health needs.

Practice description

How I can help you: I am a person centred counsellor, which means I work with whatever is most important for you at the present time. Counselling can help us to cope with stress and anxiety and to manage difficult feelings and emotions. Counselling may also help us to build self-confidence and resilience to handle future uncertainty and stress in today's unpredictable world. You may be feeling sad, resentful or guilty. You may not have had the opportunity or confidence to talk about your problems before. I can give you the space to discuss and explore feelings in confidence, without fear of judgement or criticism. I will hear you with empathic understanding and compassion. This may be especially useful where family and/or friends are not available or are unhelpful. We often become 'stuck' in life, going around in circles facing problems, relationships or maybe bereavements that we struggle to cope with. Not all circumstances can be changed, but you do not have to go through them alone. Together we can look at what is happening so that you can begin to find the best way forward yourself. Whatever our background or experiences, we all have within us the ability to make choices and decisions which will enable us to live a more fulfilled and positive life. I am also able to offer 'Walk and Talk' outdoor therapy in a local park. Sometimes it can be really helpful to walk outside and enjoy the beauty of nature around us. This often makes it easier to process difficult emotions and can feel less formal than traditional counselling settings. Sessions are 1:1 and are available either mornings or afternoons, all year round. Please bring an umbrella if rain is expected! Contact me today by phone or email for more information and to book your first session. Your first session will be £25 (half the normal fee). You are also welcome to contact me for a brief chat without obligation. I am here to support you and to answer any questions you may have about counselling.

My first session

Your first counselling session will be £25 (half the normal fee). You may be feeling nervous or you may not have had counselling before and may feel unsure about what to expect. I am here to support you and to answer any questions about the counselling process and about how we will work together.

Your first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other a bit and for you to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what issues or goals you would like to work on. This session (as all sessions) will be conducted at the pace which suits you and you will never be pressurised to talk about things that you are not yet ready to talk about or that make you feel uncomfortable.

Concessions are available if you are unemployed, on a low income or a student, so please feel free to ask about this too.
