About me and my therapy practice

You’re not broken. You went through something awful.

Maybe it was one moment that changed everything. One night. One procedure. One experience that turned your world upside down.

Maybe it was a sexual assault. Or a medical emergency that escalated without warning.

Maybe it was a traumatic birth—something that was meant to be beautiful, but instead left you feeling afraid, powerless, or shaken.

Or maybe it was an act of violence, a scare, a situation that should have been safe, but wasn’t.

On the outside, you might look “fine”.

You may have told yourself to move on, that others have had it worse, that you should be over it by now.

But you can’t just move on because it feels as though your body and mind are still going through it.

Maybe your body tenses up when you're reminded of what happened.

Maybe certain images keep popping up, uninvited.

Maybe you feel jumpy, on edge—like danger could be around any corner.

Maybe sleep escapes you—or it comes with nightmares that leave you exhausted.

Maybe you just don’t feel like you anymore.

If any of this sounds familiar—you’re not alone. And more importantly, it doesn’t have to stay this way.

How Therapy Can Help

When something overwhelming happens, it can leave your nervous system stuck in survival mode—even when the threat has passed. This isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s your brain and body trying to protect you the best way they know how. But staying stuck there can make life feel exhausting, confusing, and disconnected.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I offer a space where you can begin to gently shift out of that survival state—at your own pace, and with care.

I’ll meet you with curiosity, not judgment, and walk alongside you as you begin to reconnect with yourself and your life.

Over time, the memories that once felt raw can begin to soften. The constant alertness can ease. And slowly, you may begin to feel more present, more grounded, more like yourself again.

What happened wasn’t your fault.

Practice description

Accessible Online or Face-to-Face Sessions

Therapy is offered via the secure video platform 'Zoom,' allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort of your home and fit them into your busy schedule.

If you're able to travel, I also offer face-to-face sessions in a lovely, peaceful room in Gosforth, Newcastle.

Therapeutic Approach

Our sessions might involve talking therapy, creative approaches such as guided visualisations or sand tray, and/or EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)—a powerful, evidence-based method that helps the brain and body reprocess trauma so it feels less intense, less overwhelming.

I usually work with clients weekly, at the same time each week. That consistency helps build trust, offers a steady rhythm to the work, and gives you the support you need as the work intensifies.
