About me and my therapy practice

Why Counselling?

The things that draw people to counselling are many and varied and include bereavement, over-arching sadness, anxiety, haunting memories, behavioural struggles, work stress, relational difficulties, difficult thoughts and feelings, and a niggling sense that something is just not quite right. Counselling offers a refuge when we find ourselves in an unwelcome and maybe unexpected place.

I have a deep interest in supporting people in working through such times in their lives to help them to find their way forward. I do this by providing a confidential space that supports exploration of current difficult thoughts, feelings and circumstances,  in the light of things that happened in the past. This facilitates increased understanding, self-awareness, insight and new perspectives that supports working through and untangling difficulties and opening to the possibility of living a fuller and freer life.

Where do I begin?

Following a brief introductory call, I offer an initial consultation where we can work together to consider if counselling with me at this time is appropriate for you and if you feel comfortable working with me.

I would work by meeting with you weekly at the same time and on the same day of the week for a 50-minute session with this regular meeting providing the rhythm that supports the process. Each session costs £60.

Practice description

I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from The Counselling Centre in Tunbridge Wells, a BACP accredited training institution with over 30 years of experience and I work to the BACP's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and Professional Conduct Procedures. I draw from this and from my Psychology training. I also have specialist training in working with those who got sent away to boarding school as children and do regular training in different specialities.

I work in person from rooms in Kingswood Practice in Horsham and with clients from different locations via Zoom.
