About me and my therapy practice

Counselling for Adults, Children & Young People (aged 11 and above)

I am an accredited qualified adolescent and adult counsellor and offer a confidential, non-judgemental space to talk through your difficulties and challenges which you may be experiencing. My warm and empathetic approach will give you the space to be listened to and heard, to work through any confusion or anxieties you may be facing. As I believe our relationship is such an important part of the therapy, here is a bit about myself to see if you feel we could work together.

I am a mother of three teenagers and live in Berkshire enjoying the countryside and walking my dogs. I first qualified as a Primary School Teacher working first in London, followed by a few years in Sydney, Australia. I took a break from teaching and while bringing up my children I set up my own photography business focusing on family portrait photography.

I loved the challenge of putting both children and adults at ease to get the best out of them, to get natural and happy photos. Through my love of working with both adults and children, I decided to re-train as a counsellor. I am currently working as a counsellor in a secondary school, as well as running my private practice.

Practice description

My Approach

I am an integrative counsellor, using elements of different approaches including both humanistic and psychodynamic, to help you explore and cope with your problems. In both these approaches, I believe the key to therapy is the relationship that we build with each other. This can include a person-centred approach where you are the expert of yourself and through exploration, you can come to terms with any negative feelings and change and develop in your own way. The psychodynamic approach explores how your current feelings and relationships are shaped by your past.  I offer psycho-education so that you can have a better understanding of the symptoms you are experiencing.  I can also offer some elements of CBT.

My first session

I offer a free initial consultation via telephone, so you can decide whether counselling is the necessary support you need. This will then be followed by an initial consultation meeting face to face to assess whether we both feel we can work together and whether counselling is right for you. You can ask me any questions and you do not need to book any further sessions if you feel it is not for you.
