Therapist - Tetsworth

Tetsworth OX9
07861 685506
Sessions from £55.00

Features

  • Flexible hours available
  • Available for home visits
  • Concessionary rates

Availability

I can offer zoom online/telephone/email/walk and talk (in Thame) or face to face sessions (£55).

If you are a student, I understand that finances can be an issue and will offer a reduced fee (please feel free to mention this to me). Concessionary rates are available for online sessions and I am happy to discuss this with you, taking individual needs into account.

If you wish to have a face to face appointment, we can arrange this at The Practice Clinic in Thame.  The fee will be increased to £73 due to additional costs - room hire; advertising etc.

The first session can feel overwhelming as you may not be sure what to expect. However, it takes courage to arrange a first appointment and clients often say that this is the 'hardest part' - beginning therapy.

There is no right/wrong as to how a therapy session ought to be, nor is there any pressure to book further sessions.

I am offering therapeutic support to you, whereby we will work together at your own pace and if you choose to, we can then arrange dates/times which suit both of us.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Louise and I work in private practice as an Integrative holistic Counsellor/Psychotherapist (with additional CBT training).

I support clients through a range of issues (e.g. anxiety; depression; low mood; stress) and have specialist experience (due to Midwifery/Health Visiting training) in supporting clients through the antenatal/postnatal period (which includes pre-conception; birth trauma; transition to parenthood; postnatal depression). This can be a time of excitement and joy, but also tiredness; fear of not being 'good enough' and comparing yourself to others.

What will therapy sessions be like?

I understand that the thought of starting counselling sessions can feel overwhelming or daunting - as it may not be something that you have done before. Sharing your thoughts may not be easy and you may feel vulnerable, however, having the courage to 'open up' in a safe space can enable you feel supported; heard and not alone. When working alongside you on your counselling journey, I acknowledge that we are all unique individuals and there is no right/wrong way for a session to be. With compassion and understanding, we can explore what is going on 'for you'.

How can counselling make a difference you?

I recognise that holding onto our thoughts/feelings, may impact on our body in a negative way and may manifest within us creating tension within the body. The mind-body connection is significant and could result in headaches; stomach/digestive issues; chronic pain and negatively impact on our mental and physical health. Therefore, counselling sessions could feel like a 'release' and improve your physical and psychological well-being.

Additional CPD courses undertaken:

Advanced CBT Diploma; Anxiety and Aggression Management Practitioner Diploma; Grief and Bereavement Counselling Diploma; Couples and Family Therapy Diploma; Dealing with Depression Diploma; Eating Disorder Awareness Diploma; PND; Telephone and online Counselling.

Practice description

How do I work?

I work as an Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist which means that I utilise different creative techniques when working alongside you depending on what you bring to the session.

For many clients, feeling heard and listened to is really important as this encourages exploration of thoughts and feelings. I can provide you with compassion and understanding in a safe, confidential space.

We can explore your family of origin along with any early memories and dreams (if you would like to) - as this often provides insight into yourself and how you view the world. Interpretations are often formed from a young age and this is a time where our sense of belonging and significance is formed. Understanding ourselves better and identifying behaviour patterns can be insightful and useful...as this provides the opportunity to change (if we are feeling 'stuck' or unsure how to move forward).

Why do I adopt a holistic approach?

I recognise that we are all unique individuals and therefore, following a 'tick box' approach is not effective. We all have different interpretations and experiences and the mind and body are closely connected, whereby one influences the other.

I feel I can recognise this due to working in the NHS and also attaining a Psychology Degree, as both our physical and psychological health contribute to our well-being.

What issues do I work with?

I am able to explore a range of issues/difficulties, including anxiety; stress; low self esteem; depression/low mood (this is by no means an exhaustive list).

I feel that my Midwifery and Health Visiting roles are particularly advantageous when working with clients who are trying to conceive; have had difficult pregnancies or experienced birth trauma.

I also have understanding and awareness that the perinatal period may not be how you expected it to be and this can lead to 'baby blues' or postnatal depression. Having a baby is life changing and can feel overwhelming; isolating and exhausting.

My first session

Our first session together is an opportunity to find out what has brought you to counselling and how we can work together to overcome your perceived difficulties.

It may be that a 'one off' session is all that you would like, or it may be that a number of sessions are agreed between us and then we review how you are experiencing therapy and how you would like to progress.

There is no right/wrong way to have counselling, it is about what works best for you as an individual.

If you would like to have an initial telephone call or a brief zoom meeting that can be arranged.

This is free of charge whereby I can answer any questions you may have about how I work.

Alternatively, you are welcome to book a full 50 minute session, which can be a ‘one off’ (no obligation to continue) or we can book a number of appointments in advance at a time which works for us both.

The time agreed for the next session is reserved in my diary for 48 hours, although only following receipt of the fee via BACS, will your appointment be guaranteed. A zoom link will then be sent through to you.

If payment has not been kindly received 24 hours before the session, I will assume that the appointment is not going ahead and therefore will offer this time to any other interested client.

Alternatively, we can meet for a face to face appointment at The Practice Clinic in Thame.

I am able to explore a range of issues/difficulties, including anxiety; stress; self esteem; depression/low mood (this is by no means an exhaustive list).

Alternatively, we can meet for a face to face appointment at The Practice Clinic in Thame (usually on a Monday or Friday).
