About me and my therapy practice

I am an individual therapist who is based in the UK with over 3 years experience, working with addiction, phobias, depression, anxiety, identity issues, relationship problems, childhood abuse recovery, domestic/emotional abuse recovery, religious crisis, PTSD and trauma to name just a few.

My therapy style is Eclectic which means I adapt to the unique needs of each client, depending on the problem, the treatment goals, the person’s expectations and motivation. This allows me to deliver a unique therapy experience tailored for each individual clients requirements. People are my passion, so I enjoy working with people from all walks of life and aim to bring a warm, safe, non-judgemental and non-discriminatory environment for them to improve their quality of life.

If you are ready to take the first step to better mental health and a better future, I will be honoured to support and empower you to reach your goals.

I am not the usual therapist, I actively encourage you to bring a brew to session, pets are also recommended as well as biscuits but are not essential! I use humour and colourful language (where appropriate) to help connect to and challenge my clients. I'm a real person with real life experience, I am not the type of therapist who will sit quietly listening without providing feedback, alternative perspectives or question if your current thinking serves you.

I look forward to working with you.

Practice description

I aim to provide a comfortable and safe space for my clients to relax into therapy, to be able to approach subjects in their own time and offer observations and alternative perspectives they may not have been aware of before. Through my experience, I feel that the best way to approach therapy with a client is to be led by the client, although I offer a warm and informal approach, this doesn't deduct from my professionalism or ethical ways of working.

My clients psychological safety is of upmost important to me, therefore I encourage an open dialogue and boundary setting by both parties every step of the way. I feel if a therapist does their job well, the client feels at ease and as though therapy is more about self exploration with a person who is there to guide them through their minds terrain while they discover how best to improve their lives themselves.

Part of the process in my practice is to keep my clients accountable and realistic, so there may be some challenging where I feel necessary however I also encourage questions from my clients as well as letting me know if they are not ready to broach particularly difficult subjects. Overall, I aim to help my clients feel in control of their therapy, it is their journey and I feel honoured working with every client and being part of that journey.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute session to allow both myself and the client to explore the dynamic between us, it is so important to find a therapist you gel with which is what this first session would entail. I encourage any and all questions to be raised in this free 30 minutes and will be happy to receive follow up questions if necessary.

During this time I aim to get to know the clients situation and what brings them to therapy, let them know what to expect from the therapy I provide and complete a verbal and informal assessment. This means that in the first paid session we will be able to get into working with each other smoothly and without any of the admin tasks that would normally accompany the first session.
