About me and my therapy practice

My name is Maree, after many years experience as a teacher, I trained and qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor specialising in working with children and young people.

I believe it is important to develop a trusting relationship and provide an environment where the client feels comfortable.

The client and I are participants in the relationship, and creating a connection and alliance are very important to my work.

I work creatively with children and young people, exploring feelings and emotions using a variety of methods, such as sand tray, art and stories.

In the time spent together we will work to make sense of, and explore, feelings. I support young people to be able to tell their story, to increase self - awareness and understanding, and help to feel more able to manage their feelings.

Practice description

My therapy space is in Capel Hermon Business Centre, in Llandrillo, near Corwen. There is a comfortable waiting area for parents and carers to use.

In order to allow time for the therapeutic relationship to develop, and to adequately explore any issues the minimum number of face to face weekly sessions I would recommend is 6.

Sessions are face to face, between 45 minutes and an hour, depending on the age of the child / young person.

I am experienced working with:

Grief,  Loss and Bereavement

Low Confidence

Social Anxiety

Low Self - esteem

Managing Transitions

Sleep Difficulties

Separation Anxiety

Long Term Health Conditions

Parental Separation and Divorce

My first session

My work with a child or young person is holistic and the first session is an opportunity to explore family structure, and experiences which have influenced their development; emotionally and cognitively, including their life at school.

Depending on the age of the child or young person this first meeting might be with their parent or carer.

In this first session paperwork such as the privacy notice and parental consent / contract is shared.

The first meeting is offered at a concessional rate.
