About me and my therapy practice

I am a person-centred counsellor and somatic arts therapist offering a safe, supportive space in which you can explore your difficulties in your own way and at your own pace. I listen attentively, with warmth and total acceptance, working with you to help bring clarity and meaning to those aspects of your life that isn’t working.

I believe you hold the potential for your own healing and I endeavour to create a trusting therapeutic relationship for you to explore your issues openly and freely. Change can happen when we have greater awareness and understanding of our situation, enabling us to view our issues from different perspectives. Together we find a way for you to move forward, feel empowered and make the changes needed for a fulfilling and satisfying life.

I also use a creative, embodied approach through somatic explorations and imagery. This helps us to understand, at a visceral level, the emotions that lie beneath our words. We’re often not aware of how much tension or distress we hold in our body. Through gentle explorations we can bring to light buried feelings that may originate from past or present situations.

Whether you prefer purely talking therapy or a somatic approach I welcome working with a variety of issues such as lack of worth, lonliness, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, loss of identity, addictions, sadness, grief, loss, anger, spirituality and more.

I have over 30 years’ experience working therapeutically and creatively with people of all ages and abilities. This includes working as a movement psychotherapist within the NHS in psychiatric hospitals and day centres.
