About me and my therapy practice

The Bloom Room is called so, because its a place where I hope my clients come to Blossom.

Based in Newton Leys (Milton Keynes), my more local clients can visit and access face to face counselling in a space I hope feels safe, comfortable and nurturing. Newton Leys is accessible to Leighton Buzzard, Milton Keynes, Dunstable, Buckingham and Aylesbury (On a 3 County boarder to Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and MK). You'll find that Bloom Room is accessible to most, however please do indicate if you have mobility concerns upon enquiry.

I offer an Integrative model for Individual counselling, encompassing a Person Centred Approach, CBT, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamics (inc Attachment Theory/Inner Child work). I bring this model into my Relational/Couples counselling, complimenting that with a Systemic framework.

Along the route of healing, I sometimes offer psycho-education to support what I am observing. Giving my clients a framework and understanding which they can take away and apply to scenarios in their future.

I have had the privilege of working with survivors of Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault (inc Childhood Sexual Assault in Adults) in the past, thus allowing me to work with clients who had lived through Traumatic events. I therefore work in a Trauma Informed way. Safely unboxing, understanding, self-compassion, and promoting healing through grounding and regulating techniques (eg: mindfulness). Working 'with' their trauma, so they can control it, rather than it controlling them.

As such, my practice continues to support both the Police Firearms Officers Association (PFOA) and Victim Support.

I endeavour to respond quickly to all enquiries and messages, please let me know if there is a preferred method and time to do that.

Thank you for taking a look at my profile.

Take Care,

Abi

Practice description

I am an Integrative Counsellor specialising in both Personal and Couples/Relationship therapy.

Sessions are either online or in person at my clinic in Leighton Buzzard.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Personal therapy is a place where an individual can come to make sense of something that is affecting their day to day existence. Where they are noticing there is a distortion from how they want to be, versus how they are actually participating.

RELATIONSHIP/COUPLES THERAPY (ANY MIX OF 2 PEOPLE)

Relationship Therapy is where two people in any dynamic are looking to work together to resolve a difference. Maybe you find yourselves at an impasse. Systems that once worked really well, now seems to have a broken down. Maybe there is something new in your relationship, and you need to work out a mutual way to move forward.

Relationship Therapy is traditionally seen as a place for couples, but it can also be beneficial for family ties (eg: parent/adult child).

WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE?

Imagine that you are going on a hike, one that you've known deep down you've always needed to undertake but have avoided,. Although some parts are beautiful, you know it's scary and painful at points.

The role of the counsellor is be your companion on that journey, a journey that is led by you and at your pace.

Together we'll work through some of the places that seem a bit too much for you to face on your own. No matter what emotions you experience, you will not be alone with them - not this time.

Meeting weekly, we journey together reflecting on what you've learnt along the way and explore some of the origins of those thoughts, feelings and emotional responses.

When we reach your goals, we will have a positive ending and part ways.

WHAT IT IS NOT

I'm not here to give you the answers. I wish it was that easy. And lets face it, that's what other people have done. Told you what you should or shouldn't, what you must or must not do. We'll explore what it is you truly want to do, and what's been stopping you.
