About me and my therapy practice

I am a relational integrative counsellor. The relational part of that means that I am interested in getting to know you and building a relationship. I want us to work collaboratively, to grapple together on the things that you find difficult and the things that you would like to be different. I am curious about your experience of the world and will support you to bring those experiences, your thoughts and feelings into focus, to help support new awareness.

The integrative part means that I draw on different ways of understanding human experience depending on you and what you bring, to support our conversations. I won’t give you a diagnosis but I will provide a warm, safe and confidential space for us to explore what is going on for you.

I am a registered member of BACP and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

Qualifications: I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from The Minster Centre (BACP Accredited Training Course) and am in my final year of a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy (Middlesex University). My dissertation research, The Forgotten Ones, is on the lived experience of losing a sibling in adulthood.

Before becoming a therapist: I worked in the Arts for 25 years. I also co-founded Fun Palaces (www.funpalaces.co.uk) a nationwide campaign that celebrates the creativity in everyone. Supporting the self-confidence and creativity of individuals and communities has always been central to the work that I do.

Practice description

Dealing with life and all it throws at us can be very lonely and it can help to talk to a therapist. Therapy provides the opportunity, in a confidential space, to talk through some of those challenges, to disentangle some of your thinking, to find space for some of your feelings. It can help you to reconnect with yourself as well as helping you to live differently and with purpose.

Experience: As well as my private practice, I am a counsellor at Trinity Laban, a music and dance college based in South London. I have been working with students there since 2019. I have also worked as a counsellor at Enfield and Barnet Mind’s Covid Bereavement Service and at MCPCS, the Minster Centre’s Psychotherapy and Counselling Service. I have experience of long and short-term work, with clients from a diverse round of backgrounds and ages.

My first session

Coming to therapy can be daunting so it is important that we meet for an initial session to see whether we are a good fit and if this is the right approach for you.  Together we will explore what has led you to seek therapy now, some background information and your expectations of therapy. There is no commitment to ongoing work at this point.

If we decide to continue together, we will agree a regular time to meet each week and for how many weeks. For short term therapy, I normally like to commit to 8 to 12 weeks or we can decide to keep it open ended with regular reviews. All sessions last 50 minutes and cost £70.
