About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Georgina, a BACP registered counsellor, currently offering both face to face and online counselling from my home in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

I have years of experience, offering counselling within a charity setting, focusing on anxiety, low self-confidence and self-worth, stress, and family changes. I also had a counselling volunteer placement at a domestic abuse charity where I worked with people to feel heard, trusted and empowered despite their life experiences.

I have years of experience working in a Youth Justice Setting, working with those going through the Youth Justice System, the barriers and difficulties they face, understand the traumas they have experienced and ways for me to support the families also. Alongside this, I have experience working in a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities setting, working with children and their families, helping to navigate SEND, help them to feel heard, advocate for themselves and their rights, and provide support. I also worked for a charity supporting children and young people with Autism, providing activities in the community and Youth Groups to support with building confidence, encourage socialising and helping with transitioning into different parts of life.

In Education settings, I have experience of supporting others dealing with workplace stress, unrealistic expectations put upon them, and I helped those people to feel valued, heard and respected in their profession. I also have experience of supporting people to access education, encouraging them to be heard, provide them with the relevant legislation they need to support them, support with advocating for themselves and empower them throughout the process.

All experience has helped me to understand that each individual person I work with, needs to be heard fully, greeted with warmth and compassion, and never judged. Everyone has a story, and I am here to listen to your story.

Practice description

My counselling room is based in my home, with a separate door to access this. There are good transport links and on-street parking. Unfortunately, my office is not wheelchair friendly as I have a gravel drive and there is a step up into my office.

As a counsellor, I offer a warm, non-judgmental, confidential space for you to explore, offload and process life experiences. Finding a counsellor who you ‘click’ with can be daunting, overwhelming and sometimes time-consuming, which is why I offer a free initial Zoom call of 20 minutes. This is where we can briefly discuss your counselling needs, any aims you have, if we can work together and any questions you may have.

I offer both short term and long-term therapy, depending on your needs.

I qualified as a Person-Centred counsellor in June 2020 and have over 400+ hours of supervised counselling since then.

My first session

After our initial 20 minute Zoom call, we can book in our first session, either online via Zoom, or face to face. If we decide to work online, I will send a Zoom meeting invite before our scheduled session via email.

If we decide to work face to face, I will email my address and directions to my home counselling room and any advice regarding parking.

I aim to reply to all emails within 48 hours. If you are waiting for me to respond, please check your Spam folder.
