I work from two offices, both of which are in central York. I offer in person sessions on Wednesday mornings and until 2.30 pm on Fridays at Priory Street and Thursdays from 12.30 until 3pm at Fishergate. Or, if you prefer online therapy, this is also possible.
About me and my therapy practice
I’m Sarah, a qualified, BACP registered counsellor. I offer in person counselling in central York, as well as online.
It takes courage to reach out and seek counselling and that is why we will work at your pace, and I will offer you a warm, calm, accepting, honest and respectful space that can help cultivate change.
My aim is to listen, support and empower you in a relational, holistic way, where together, we can explore your unique experiences at a deeper level.
As well as my private practice, I'm also a counsellor at York Women's Counselling Service.
I currently only work with clients who are 18 years and over.
Practice description
As a humanistic integrative counsellor, I believe we all have the capacity within us for awareness and growth. When things feel difficult or confusing it can be hard to find this within ourselves. My hope is that through our work, this self exploration will help you gain a greater awareness and understanding of yourself, your relationships with other people and the difficulties you may be facing and allow you to make positive changes that feel right for you.
I believe our therapeutic relationship is a key part of our work together and that is why I work relationally. This means our work is collaborative. By working together, we can begin to explore your unique experience.
My training and experience allows me to work integratively, which means I am able to offer a range of therapeutic techniques to best support your individual experience.
I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and follow their ethical framework to ensure you are able to trust me with any sensitive, personal information shared during our work together.
My first session
It’s really important to find the right counsellor for you. That’s why I offer an initial, free, no obligation phone conversation. Lasting around 20 minutes, it’s a great opportunity for you to tell me a bit about you, what’s bringing you to counselling, and for you to ask any questions.
In our first session, we’ll go through some paperwork and begin to get to know each other, focusing on what you’d like to explore over the course of our sessions.
I offer both long and short term counselling, therefore we can discuss and agree what approach would be most suitable for you.
