About me and my therapy practice

I support and empower young people through difficult times in their lives, offering a safe, welcoming space where they can feel valued and listened to.

My counselling and psychotherapy sessions offer a compassionate space for young people aged from 11 to 24 to share and explore their feelings, difficulties and experiences. Their strengths and sense of self are celebrated throughout the counselling process. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship where they feel heard and understood is fundamental to my work with the young person. I have a calm and gentle approach and uphold core values of non-judgement, empathy and acceptance.

I have an MA in integrative counselling and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and families from the University of Roehampton (Distinction).

My training is integrative – this means I studied a range of approaches which I can then draw on to best support the individual needs of the young person. My MA incorporated play therapy, person-centred therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy informed by theory in attachment, neuroscience and systemic approaches.

I have a background in psychology with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology (Goldsmiths’ College, University of London) and an MSc in Forensic Psychology (University of Kent).

Alongside my private practice, I am a counsellor at Step by Step, a charity partnered with CAMHS, providing counselling for young people aged 11 to 24.

I have over 16 years of experience working in educational and therapeutic settings supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, often with additional needs. I am also a parent to young adults.

Practice description

Play and creative media are available for all clients, whatever their age – these offer many different ways for them to express and communicate their internal world and emotions.

Sessions are client-led to promote the young person’s autonomy to share what they need to, at a pace which they are comfortable with.

I work one-to-one with the young person to enable a confidential space and the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship.

I will work with the young person to meet their sensory needs, adjusting to their preferences regarding seating, eye contact and lighting as far as possible. I have many sensory objects in the room which the young people can use to regulate their emotions.

I welcome Autistic young people and those with ADHD and I am passionate about my neurodiversity-affirming approach. I have experience professionally and personally of supporting and exploring the impact of neurodiversity for young people and the challenges they and their families experience. I offer a counselling space that aims to meet their needs, supporting them to explore their strengths and the barriers they experience as they navigate education and beyond.

I offer a safe space for all young people, free from discrimination or harassment.

I work with a wide range of issues and sessions can be short-term or longer-term for more complex difficulties, meeting the individual needs of each young person.

I work in-person in a comfortable room at the Greenwood Centre in Hampton Hill. The centre is wheelchair accessible at the front entrance, the room is on the first floor and is accessible via a lift.

There is unrestricted parking in the surrounding residential streets and two car parks in Hampton Hill a short walk away.

The Centre is easily accessible using public transport. Bus routes 285, R68 and R70 stop nearby and the nearest train station is Fulwell.

My first session

If you are a young person seeking counselling and psychotherapy:

I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation where we can discuss your needs and decide if I might be the right person to support you.

If you would like to try counselling and psychotherapy, an initial session can be arranged where you can meet me, experience the room and resources and ask any questions you may have. I work one-to-one to enable me to provide a confidential space, however, parents/carers are welcome to attend the initial meeting. During this session, I will ask some details about your current concerns and history and explain my contract and ways of working.

If you would like to go ahead with further sessions, these can then be booked at a regular time and day of the week. Sessions are 45 minutes in length.
