Availability

I currently have good availability. Best days for face-to-face sessions are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

I will be taking a break over Christmas from Friday 22 December 2023, returning to work on 2 January 2024.

About me and my therapy practice

I can provide sessions online via Zoom or face-to face using dedicated counselling rooms in Water Lane in the centre of Bishop's Stortford.

I am happy to offer a free, 10-minute phone consultation prior to sessions commencing to briefly discuss what you hope to achieve from counselling and to see if it feels like we can work together effectively.

I have experience of working with people across a range of issues including bereavement, relationship problems, stress and anxiety. I have a special interest in working with people living with - or affected by - cancer. I also have experience of working with children and young adults (from the age of 13 onwards).

Practice description

Sometimes, there can be times when our problems can become overwhelming or all-consuming. They stop us from getting on with life and get in the way. That’s when counselling can really help.

I can work with you on a short-term basis (normally around 6-12 weekly sessions) or in a more open-ended, long-term way - whatever works best for you. Currently, I have good availability - including some weekend sessions.

I work integratively which means that I draw on a variety of theoretical approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. I mainly work in a person-centred/humanistic way which means I'll work with how you perceive yourself rather than analysing or interpreting your unconscious thoughts and ideas. I'm interested in how you experience things and what that means for you. I also often use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques as a means of changing the way you might think about your emotions and feelings.

My first session

When you contact me, I will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a mutually convenient time and date for sessions to begin.

If you'd like to, we can arrange an initial, no obligation telephone consultation free of charge. This will take around 10-15 minutes and will enable us to decide if counselling might benefit you and if I am the right therapist for you.

At our first full session, we'll talk through the problems you are facing and agree a way forward together. My aim as a counsellor will be to empower you to take control of your life. I will focus on you as a human being rather than on your individual problems or issues and I will help you to determine what is the best way forward for you.
