About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ashleigh.

I’m a Play Therapist and Creative Counsellor.

I always had a strong desire to understand feelings and behaviours, always being driven toward solving my own questions that started with why which stemmed from my own experiences from a very young age. After giving myself the time, space and finding the support to have this understanding I started to feel empowered to start asking questions that started with how; how can I make this into a positive? Witnessing this from such a personal level I grew to be empathetic, emotionally intelligent and determined I would do the same for other children and young people who had similar struggles.

I am always striving to give to my clients; an outlet for their conscious and unconscious emotions, the support to understand and develop skills that can be used throughout their life, time to grow at their own pace and the space to become the truest version of themselves to reach their fullest potential.

Play Therapy is a method of working with children and young people who have social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties through the medium of play.

It recognises that play is a child’s natural medium for self-expression. 80% of children will benefit from free play, playing with/through toys in their natural way to work through their inner thoughts and feelings. However, it is recognised that 20% of children are unable to do that. These individuals have more they need to work through, the process works because they have a therapist by their side supporting them.

Creative Counselling is a method of working with adolescents who have social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties using talking therapy alongside creative interventions, such as creative journaling, poetry, mediation, and The Play Therapy Toolkit.
