About me and my therapy practice

The way I work is rooted in Carl Rogers person centred approach. I hold a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling through the CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body), which is one of the highest quality mental health training qualifications in the UK. Non-directive person centred therapy strives to create a genuine, empathic, non-judgmental environment, where together we can explore whatever you wish to bring to your session safely and with confidentiality.

Practice description

I believe in offering a space where I can listen to you; I am not here to work you out or analyse you; together, we can make sense of your thoughts and reflections, discover what is going on for you, what you wish to change and how you might achieve these things.

This unfolds at your pace where I walk beside you; the journey is a collaborative one where you lead. This can range from a single session to the potential of open-ended sessions - you decide and aren’t tied in for any length of time.

I have no expectations of you. This time is for you, just as you are, where all your feelings, thoughts and emotions are welcome.

Although free of direct advice, this approach doesn’t mean you can’t ask questions, or it won’t feel challenging; a lot can come up in the sessions, and I will be there with you throughout.

A value and respect for the individual and all that make their experience unique are at the heart of my practice, embracing diversity and inclusivity regardless of ethnicity, cultural background, sexuality and gender identity.

I have experience with various issues that can show up in sessions, from addiction struggles, relationship and communication difficulties, sexuality, neurodiversity, creativity blocks and a wide range of emotional problems. I am mindful of the labels that are put on us today and always strive to meet the person beyond those.

Each therapist and how they work is unique; giving a flavour of a session isn’t easy, and holding that, I feel it is something to experience. I hope this resonates as a gentle invitation to try a session yourself.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation that can be done online, in person or on the phone. It allows me to find out more about you, and what brings you to counselling and ensures we can work together safely and ethically.

I can share more about what I offer as a counsellor and answer any questions you may have about the counselling journey and working together.
