About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and a BABCP-accredited cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist. I have 13 years of experience working with adults and young people with a wide range of mental health challenges.
I adapt my approach to fit in with your goals, needs and preferences. While cognitive-behavioural psychotherapy (CBT) is solution-focused and strategy-driven, person-centred counselling allows more space for exploration and discovery.
CBT is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence for most common mental health issues (mild to severe depression, OCD, generalised and social anxiety, panic disorder, phobia ...), but in therapy there is no 'one size fits all'. I therefor combine approaches to respect your pace and needs.
Providing my clients with a nurturing and non-judgemental environment is key to my work. I believe every person deserves a space where they can unashamedly be themselves and ask for the help they need to resolve their personal mental health challenges. You matter, and your story deserves to be heard. With a little help, a better life is within reach.
Practice description
I currently work online only. This allows both me and my clients great flexibility. Therapy works well online, and has the added benefit that clients do not have to worry about transport time or parking expenses.
My first session
Prospective clients can request a free 20-minute introductory phone call during which we can discuss the problem that brings you to therapy and address any questions or concerns you might have. There is no expectation or obligation for you to start therapy with me. An introductory phone call is as much an opportunity to get to know me and decide whether you feel we would be a good match. Therapy is a relationship and it is important to feel comfortable with the person whose services you are engaging.
If you decide to work with me, our initial session will be spent building a good understanding of your problem(s), which many clients find therapeutic and eye-opening in itself. This understanding is also the basis for a therapeutic plan tailored to your specific situation and needs, allowing us to systematically address your problems.
