About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified counsellor and therapist, and have worked in-person, online and on the phone. I work in an integrative way, which means I incorporate a number of theoretical approaches but I always work in a way that feels best for you.

I provide a safe and accepting space with no judgements to allow you to share whatever you want in a confidential place. We will work collaboratively to look at whatever has led you to counselling.

Evidence shows that the connection between the counsellor and the client is the most important factor in counselling and I create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to help create a gentle, warm and supportive relationship.

Practice description

Everyone experiences difficulties in life from time to time, but if you feel that it is holding you back and you are experiencing negative emotions which can affect your mood and health, counselling may be able to help.

Counselling is a chance for you to look at any difficulties in your life, feel more able to cope, support you in making decisions and enhance your confidence. Making links between the past and the present can help you spot patterns and understand your responses to situations today.

I create a calm and welcoming environment for you to safely share and untangle your thoughts and feelings. I consider that you know yourself best, and counselling is an opportunity for you to explore this. I will respect your choices and we will work at your pace.

My first session

Initial Consultation

I recognise that the first step in reaching out to a counsellor is daunting. This would be a 20 minute phone call for us to chat and is an opportunity for you to talk about what brings you to counselling and what you would like to talk about. It also allows you to find out what counselling involves and to ask any questions.

First Session

If you decide now is the right time to go ahead with counselling, we would look at what brought you to counselling in more detail and discuss how we could work together.

We could start to look at what your therapeutic goals are, although sometimes this doesn’t feel right until a few sessions in.

We would also look at the Counselling Agreement which covers how we will work together.
