About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Kayley. I'd like to offer to be alongside you on your journey of healing and personal growth. I founded Folio Therapy with the mission of providing a compassionate counselling service that welcomes everyone, regardless of your background or life experiences. I believe that every individual has a unique story to tell, and I am here to listen and support you along the way. The name 'folio' was carefully chosen to reflect a facet of your therapeutic journey: just like a collection of pages forms a book, your life story comprises unique experiences and moments. Some chapters feel harder to read and re-write, but you won't do this alone.

Before founding Folio Therapy, I had my own experiences of the transformative impact of therapy in healing trauma and navigating life difficulties. I learned the importance of finding the right support to explore my past, present, and future in relation to my experiences. Drawing from my dual heritage of Indian, Scottish, and Welsh roots, I hold a deep understanding of navigating complex issues related to identity, culture, and family dynamics. As a woman, a creative, and an avid appreciator of culture, food, yoga, and nature, my passion lies in fostering profound and genuine connections with people.

Practice description

Choosing the 'person-centred' approach for my training was a natural decision, resonating with my belief in the fundamental importance of an individual's autonomy. I carried out my person-centred therapist training at Brighton University. Through my experience as a therapist at a Brighton-based counselling service and within a secondary school, I have provided support to both young people and adults facing a diverse range of challenges. Now, through establishing Folio Therapy, I am committed to offering a creative, ethical and comprehensive therapeutic service to others.

Folio Therapy offers online sessions for £50 and in-person sessions cost £55. The therapy offices are located at 198 Church Road, Hove.

My first session

Initial Discussion: We will schedule a convenient time for an initial 15-minute conversation over the phone to discuss what you are looking for and what has brought you to seek therapy.

Introductory session: During your first therapy session, you will have the opportunity to openly discuss what has led you to seek therapy and how you wish to direct your sessions. Your therapist will carry out an informal assessment, discussing your life story and also the structure and focus for your sessions.

Ongoing sessions: We will work together to determine whether shorter or longer-term therapy aligns with your needs. If you are uncertain, we will commence open-ended sessions and conduct reviews every six weeks to see how you are getting on. Each weekly therapy session may vary in its structure and content. Some weeks, you might prefer to engage in creative therapeutic activities, while other times you may simply want to engage in open and explorative conversation.
