About me and my therapy practice
As a fully qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of BACP, my approach combines various aspects of my training and experience. I take a holistic approach and tailor my methods to meet your individual needs best.
Practice description
The focus of our sessions is not on me or my knowledge. Instead, I strive to establish a therapeutic relationship based on empathy, trust and a feeling of safety. You’ll feel truly understood, heard and valued as the unique individual you are, with all that holds significance for you.
Whatever you choose to bring to our sessions – difficult thoughts, emotions or life experiences – we'll explore the origins of these feelings, how they impact you and your responses to them. You'll find me warm, compassionate and respectful of what you choose to share, whenever you choose to do so.
Sharing your experiences unlocks new possibilities and empowers you to choose how you want your life to be. We’ll think together about which choices are helpful, and which are not, and collaborate to bring the changes you desire to fruition.
My career took an unexpected turn when I trained as a clinical massage therapist. Witnessing how emotional, mental, and physical pain impacts various aspects of a person’s life, relationships, work, and social interactions influenced my decision to become a counsellor. These insights now inform and enrich my counselling practice.
Contemplating new ways of being can be daunting. However, effective talking therapy is a collaborative process, and I am here to support and guide you toward positive change
My first session
I believe the relationship between counsellor and client is crucial for the success of the therapy.
I offer an informal fifteen-minute phone chat so you can assess if my approach fits your needs, and determine if we can work together effectively.
In our initial full session, I will take a more detailed personal history to better understand the motivations behind seeking counselling and your desired objectives. Based on this insight, we will collaboratively decide whether a short-term (8-12 weeks) or open-ended counselling approach is most suitable.
