About me and my therapy practice

The counselling process is very individual, we all have our own experiences and life view. I offer a safe, non judgemental and confidential space for my clients, a space for us to explore what brings you to counselling. A space where old ways of thinking and feeling can be examined, perhaps old patterns of behaviour no longer serve you? Are your boundaries constantly being broken? You may have suffered a loss or a life changing event and need support and space to unpick and understand. Whatever your therapeutic needs, even if we don't yet know what change might look like, I know it can feel scary. Counselling is a fluid and ever evolving process of internal learning, but always focused on what you bring to therapy.

My approach is conversational, the therapeutic space allows for us to look deeper into issues which are causing distress or affecting your life. we all have our own experiences and life view, which cultivates our internalised perspective on the world around us and our place within it. I offer a safe non judgemental and confidential space for us to explore what brings you to counselling. A space to become more self aware and take back control.

I believe that we are able to grow as a result of adversity, gain more insight into who we are when facing pain, and we develop a greater sense of understanding and awareness as we navigate our way through. But I know these outcomes do not come easily, we still need to be heard, our pain can be unbearable and we can feel hopeless.

I can assure you I will not take you to places you are not ready to go, I always ask client permission and explain options for discussion progression.

Like many I have experienced life's difficulties, and it has led me here, counselling! I too have spent hours doing exactly the same thing, looking for someone to help me understand what happened, why I feel like this. I have had a mixture of helpful and unhelpful therapists, only advice I can offer you now is to go with your gut.

My first session

Our first session comes with no expectation for there to be another, the most important thing about therapy which is key for progress and growth is for you to feel safe in my presence to explore some things which bring you to counselling and also those things which we may uncover along the way.

What our first session will be is establishing if we can work together and if you have felt safe and heard within the session.
