About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name’s Rebecca Corlett. I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and I work with individual adult clients age 18+. I aim to offer you a non-judgemental, safe and supportive environment where you can be heard and accepted and where you can explore and process your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I am not here to advise you, or tell you what to do - I do not live your life and so that's not my place - but we can work together and I can support you to explore and discover your own answers.
As a neurodivergent therapist I have a special interest in neurodiversity. I have experience in working with both neurotypical, and neurodivergent clients, as well as those with other challenges and disabilities. Neurodivergent clients often need to move around, stim, fiddle, doodle – all of this is fine, and I invite you to discuss with me anything you might need to make therapy more accessible to you.
I have experience working with several counselling agencies including domestic abuse support agencies, and I continue to volunteer with the Road Victims Trust working with clients affected by road collisions. I have experience working with a variety of presenting issues. These include but are not limited to:
Bereavement and grief
Discrimination
Domestic abuse
Family and relationships issues
Identity
Life transitions
Neurodivergence - with or without a diagnosis. Including, but not limited to: Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia Dyspraxia, Social Communication Disorder. I also work with people supporting neurodivergence (family, friends, carers)
Serious injury
Sudden loss
Witnesses of road death and serious injury
This list is not exhaustive and I am happy to work with you if you are experiencing common mental health problems, personal challenges, or wanting to explore and further your understanding of yourself in a safe space.
Practice description
My private practice is called Sunflower Counselling. I work online using Google Meet, on the phone, and face-to-face from my room in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
My first session
Before our first session we will have a short introductory phone call where you can ask questions, and to make sure I am a suitable counsellor for you. If we are both happy we can then book an initial session.
At our initial session I will listen to you and what brings you to therapy and we will talk about how counselling with me can help. We can then book in further sessions if you would like to continue working with me.
