About me and my therapy practice
Making the decision to talk to a therapist about how you are feeling can be one of the toughest ones you’ll make, but it can be life changing.
I know that finding the right therapist can be a difficult and a daunting prospect.
Depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, a life changing decision, relationships, work, identity, a diagnosis, supporting someone else and feel forgotten, neglected, perhaps you are just drifting and feeling lost without purpose. A new problem or one that has been buried within for years. Share and be liberated without judgement.
I will work with you on your path to achieve either of two things - to help you overcome your anxieties completely or to find a way to help live with them and making an easier life.
Practice description
I have had several years training and experience in Person Centred counselling including complex grief; traumatic bereavement; depression; anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I have been involved with the bereavement charity Cruse for a number of years, working with bereaved individuals through their grief. I am the Mental Health & Wellbeing Lead at my place of work, working with Senior Management Team to embed a positive approach to mental health and supporting people who need it.
I am a qualified Transactional Analysis therapist, and this, combined with my Person Centred experience allows me to bring different perspectives to the counselling/therapy room, to support you.
When meeting face-to-face, we will meet In Ambleside, in an accessible building with free parking. When working online, we will use Zoom.
My first session
When you contact me, I will make a time for us to have an initial telephone consultation, this is free of charge, and usually lasts 30-45 minutes. It gives us both chance to ask questions, for example I will ask:
What has prompted you to seek counselling/therapy?
Have you had counselling/therapy before?
We can chat about whether face-to-face or online may suit you best, and talk about our availability. We will get a feel for each other and often here is where we will make a date for the first hour long session.
