About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, my name is Jill. I am an experienced integrative counsellor, with additional qualifications from the Association of Family Therapy and EMDR practice.

As an integrative counsellor, I tailor the therapies I use to your individual uniqueness and situation. I offer a safe and respectful space, that encourages understanding of your own strengths and ways of coping. We will explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, relationships and your context to understand them better. The aim is for the issues you are facing to become clearer and for your thinking about them to shift, because this offers hope. You can re-evaluate what is troubling you and consider your own options for managing change, then, when you are ready, we can develop and rehearse your plan of action.

• Accredited with the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP)

• Master’s Degree (MSc) in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from Derby University

• Awarded Systemic Practitioner status with the Association of Family Therapists (AFT) for working with couples and families.

Practice description

Are you experiencing the deep sadness and loneliness of grief and bereavement?

Is the churning intensity of stress/ anxiety impacting your life?

Do you have family issues and tensions in relationships that you do not know how to repair?

Do you, or someone you love, have a long-term health condition? Or been diagnosed with cancer? Are you feeling lost, angry or panicked?

Do you have a phobia that is holding you back?

Is there a traumatic experience from your past that needs resolving?

I work with individuals and couples online and I draw on: -

• Client-centred principals to develop a trusting working relationship with you, to support your self-understanding and encourage your individual growth and development

• CBT helps us to explore and gives strategies and resources to change your thoughts, understand and calm your feelings and bring choices about your behaviours.

• Attachment-focused therapy gives insights into the patterns in your relationships and ways of coping

• Family Therapies support families to work together when faced with difficulties and differences in relationships

• EMDR is used for trauma treatment because it enables the processing of negative past experiences that continue to have a current impact. It is also effective with anxiety, phobias, bullying or social humiliations and complicated grief.

• Neuroscientific ideas tell us that we are designed to change. Also having some insight into how our brain works can help us to understand ourself and our responses better.

My fees are:

For individual clients seeking 1-to-1 online counselling sessions (60 mins) £60

For couples seeking online relationship counselling sessions (60 mins) £75

For EMDR (90 mins) £90

My first session

About me and my therapy practice

About me and my supervision practice

I am an integrative counsellor who works with adults. I draw on person-centred principals, attachment focused therapy, systemic therapies and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) – all of which I can bring into the supervision space.

I qualified as a supervisor in 2016. I draw on Page & Wosket’s cyclical model and also on Hawkins & Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Process Model.  I work within the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.  I have experience supervising individuals and also in small supervision groups.

I have always valued and appreciated supervision myself. It is important to me that I work in a collaborative way, so that we create together a working alliance.  I have a supervision agreement that sets out how we would work together.

My understanding of supervision is that it provides:

- a dedicated space and opportunity to examine practice, identify reactions, debrief and work towards a way forward

- it is a way of developing professionally and improving and deepening our skills

- it provides support when difficulties and dilemmas arise

- it helps to support self-care and resilience, because our counselling practice does impact us all

Please contact me to discuss your supervision needs.
