About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am an experienced Therapeutic Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor.

I am down to earth, culturally sensitive and have worked with clients from a variety of ages, genders and backgrounds. I am committed to anti-oppressive practice and an LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapist.

I am passionate about the work I do, borne out of my own life changing experiences of therapeutic counselling. I see it is a real  privilege to work with people in this way, whether it is someone who is looking for help with something they are having difficulty with, somebody wanting to make a lasting change, or who has an interest in discovering more about themselves.

I offer you a space to bring whatever you chose to explore in our sessions. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, but sometimes its difficult to see the wood for the trees. In that respect I support you to explore your unique experience and what that means to you.

I have an Integrative approach, my core model is Person Centred, I integrate Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, aspects of CBT and Psychodynamic Theory.

Sometimes people can find it difficult to fully express themselves and I can offer creative ways of working using things such as pictures, art materials, music, writing. However we work it will be your choice, therapy isn't 'done to you'. There may be changes you want to make in your life, difficulties that you want to overcome, past experiences that have a significant impact on your life today. We will work together at a pace that suits you, that could be in face to face sessions in Kent and Medway in a counselling room, or online via an online virtual meeting.

I have worked in various agency settings including:

One to one counselling for Parents and Carers in a Surestart Childrens' Centre

TRAINING

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

Diploma in Supervision

Certificate in Adoption Support

I engage in regular CPD training to enhance and extend my knowledge, skills and awareness.

My first session

I offer the option of a free introductory 15 minute call, either by telephone or online via zoom. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and I can find out a little bit about you and what you are looking for from sessions before you commit to booking.

If you then decide to go ahead, we will book in a first session. In this session we can discuss what your preferences are and how we might work with them. For example, some people find silence very difficult and we can agree what we will do when a silence falls. For others sitting still for the whole session may be an issue and we can discuss how we navigate that.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced supervisor, I work with individuals and agencies, one to one and with groups.

My model of supervision is the seven eyed model and can work with all modalities.

I am a trauma informed practitioner and aim to provide a supervisory relationship that provides the opportunity for exploration, learning and growth. We learn best when we feel safe, valued and connected.

I have particular experience in working with addiction/substance use issues, domestic abuse, Adverse Childhood Experiences and other trauma.

I am an experienced group therapist and regularly supervise group therapists.

Practice description

I can support counsellors to build up their private practice.

I am experienced in supervising counsellors working with Solution Focussed Therapy Platforms such as BetterHelp.

I work face to face in Kent and Medway and online.

I offer a free 15 minute call to answer any questions and for you to get a feel if we might be a good fit.

Supervision fees are £60 per hour for individuals, £65 per hour for groups up to a maximum of four. Please enquire if you are looking for supervision for groups larger than 4.

I do offer some concessionary spaces for counsellors in training on a sliding scale from £40 per hour.

My first session

Establishing a working relationship is crucial to effective supervision and it is desirable for counsellors in training to start supervision sessions prior to beginning to work with clients.

In our first session we can start to build the relationship discussing what supervision is, identifying what your supervision needs are and prepare for your first client.
