My supervision style is informed by being a qualified registered BACP therapist with over 14000 hours’ experience.

I set up private practice in 2010 and I have experience of offering counselling & psychotherapy to adult individuals, children, adolescents, families and couples in both the public and private sectors: schools, prison and charities. 

I have also facilitated groups with both adults and children.

I see supervision as a collaborative process to promote your reflective practice and learning so you can practice as safely and effectively as possible. 

Working within an integrative framework I aim to create a safe environment where you can explore your work, your learning needs and your self care needs.

As an Integrative Therapist I am trained in various modalities, psychodynamic talking therapies, nature based mindfulness, somatic therapy, creative art and play, trauma focused therapy, attachment focused, adoption therapy and I weave re-generative eco-psychology into my practice.

Free Initial Supervision Session

This initial session is a fact finding one. It will give you a chance to talk about your modality, governing body, your history as a therapist, experience and training and which client groups you are presently working with. 

You will be able to ask me questions, so we can work out whether we are a good fit. 

If so we will contract to regular monthly supervision depending on whether you a student or qualified (90 mins minimum) 

£50 a hour / £75 for 90 mins

As your therapist I will not give you advice or tell you what to do. Instead I use my skills, intuition and training to support you in finding your own way forward, we can begin to access how your history colours your thoughts, feelings and beliefs about yourself and the world around you, while rediscovering and building upon your own self esteem and confidence.

As an integrative therapist, I work holistically by integrating different therapy models into my practice in order to provide a service which will suit individual needs. 

In my training I have developed a skills set which includes; trauma focused therapy,  behavioural therapy, psychdynamic talking therapy, attachment focused therapy, regenerative eco- psychology, nature based stress reduction and therapeutic art and play.

Within our counselling relationship you will be free to express yourself - there are no thoughts or feelings that are 'out of bounds'. Whatever thoughts or feelings arise, we will explore these together and try to understand them.

If you decide that I am the right therapist for you, we will work together with what you bring, with the understanding that we will not simply examine the problem/issue in isolation but as a part of your world, seeing it in the wider context of your life and history.

Outdoor Nature Based Practice

My Outdoor practice has emerged through my passion to support people with mental health and personal development needs, along with my love for the natural world. I have over 16 years experience in mental health, addiction, sexual trauma, depression & anxiety.

I have worked with people of all ages and genders as a psychotherapist. In order to develop my Nature based work. I completed 2 year Accredited Diploma in Regenerative Eco Psychology and Nature Based Practice in 2022. This enabled me to support my clients through the pandemic in new and effective ways.

I am also a member of Nature & Health Practitioners Network

The focus of Nature Based Therapy is to support the participant to connect with the natural environment in a deeper and more meaningful way which helps them to feel safe and held by nature with a skilled practitioner who acts as listener and guide.

Exactly how the session will unfold will depend on the individual but it may include; talking in depth about situations, feelings and experiences; meditation exercises which help people connect to their environment and feel grounded; focusing on a particular tree, plant, rock, animal or piece of land to find meaning and connection in nature; making something creative using natural found materials.

Sessions take place in carefully selected nature spaces, chosen for their beauty, peace and tranquility. 

Close to my practice in IP6 ; Gosbeck or Helmingham, close to Ipswich and Stowmarket in Mid Suffolk.

Whichever therapy you pick , you will be supported in a respectful and nonjudgemental way. Confidentiality is central and crucial to this work and participants are never expected to discuss anything they do not feel ready or able to.

Initial Assessment (Online or In-Person)

Initially you will be offered an online assessment. This runs for 75 minutes and gives you a chance to meet me, share you story and find out which of the therapies I offer are going to suit you best. Fees and confidentiality will be discussed.

If we collectively decide it will work, you will be offered weekly sessions to begin.

n.b. I usually suggest 8 sessions with a review after 4-6, to see how you are feeling and so we can collectively plan going forward. It is essential that you choose the therapy which works for you.

OUTDOOR THERAPY

Studies now show that people with strong connections with nature report feeling happier and more content.

My approach is informative and will support you to relate to your body as an integral aspect of your life and experience.

Your outdoor therapy session will take place in a location which has been carefully chosen for its beauty and capacity to help ensure you are unlikely to be disturbed by other walkers. 

We have an acre of therapy garden with sit spots located throughout along with  a polytunnel. We also have the option of walking over local fields or when conditions allow we could visit Gosbeck Woods.

Walk & Talk Therapy

Walk and talk therapy brings all the benefits of a normal therapy session with the added advantage of being out in nature. We carefully select local natural spaces which offer peace and quiet as well as the beauty of the natural world.

Eco-therapy

Like with walk and talk therapy, ecotherapy clients will gain many benefits from being in nature, however the focus will be to support them to connect with the natural environment in a deeper and more meaningful way. Clients may also be encouraged to explore their environment to find meaning and mirroring from Nature. This supports greater insights into personal experiences, feelings or issues related to relationships or certain situations.

Nature Based Relationship Therapy

Being outside in nature brings its own healing element and this combines with exploring the symbols and mirroring that nature. Walking together or spending time in a natural space being guided by a therapist can support discussion and discovery that may not be accessible by simple sitting online or in a room.

Nature Based Trauma Recovery

In the western world educators and organisations have often split the mind and body. We have also become progressively split from the natural world from which we came and grounding and connecting with the universal power of nature has been proven to support trauma recovery. Using a more nature based approach supports you to begin to understand and listen to your body at the same time supporting you to release deep set anxieties and anger in a more caring and connected way.
