Invitation to Participate

I am a postgraduate student on the MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of South Wales and am inviting relational integrative psychotherapists to take part in a research study for my MA dissertation.

Aim of the Study

This study aims to explore how relational therapists experience and make sense of potential undiagnosed neurodivergent traits in the therapy room; to examine how therapists perceive the impact of potential undiagnosed neurodivergence on the therapeutic relationship, attunement, and communication; and to understand how relational therapists navigate the ethical and professional boundaries of recognising potential neurodivergence without a formal diagnosis.

Who Can Take Part?

Participants must:

  • Have a minimum of three years post-qualification experience in relational integrative psychotherapy
  • Be aged between 25 and 75 years
  • Be UK-based and fluent in English
  • Be a registered member of a recognised professional body
  • Have access to ongoing clinical supervision

What Participation Involves

Participation will involve taking part in a one-to-one semi-structured interview via Microsoft Teams, exploring professional experiences and reflections. No client identifying information will be requested. Ethics Ethical approval has been obtained prior to recruitment. The study is conducted in accordance with professional ethical guidelines, and participation is entirely voluntary.
