How does the process of crafting poetry and creative prose enhance personal and professional development as a counsellor?

Are you a counsellor who uses creative writing for your own personal and professional development?
I'd love to explore your experience of crafting creative writing and its connection with your personal and professional development as a counsellor.
As part of my Master’s in Professional Counselling at Waverley Abbey College, I'm undertaking a creative autoethnographic research project examining the process of composing poetry and creative prose as a tool for my development as a counsellor.
In order to deepen this research project, I would love to use some of your creative work to help inform a 50-60 minute online interview, discussing your creative process, your writing, and your experience of the connection with your personal and professional development as a counsellor.
Could this be you?
To take part, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
• You are a UK-based qualified counsellor who writes poetry or short form creative prose pieces.
• You have experienced a connection between your process of creative writing and your personal and professional development at any point in your counsellor training or career.
• You are willing to share and discuss 3-5 pieces of your own creative writing exploring elements of your personal and professional development and/or your writing process, and are willing to supply accompanying notes to support the exploration of your creative writing.
• You are willing and able to discuss your writing, the process of crafting creative pieces and the impact of creative writing on your own personal and professional development in a 50-60 minute online interview, which will be audio-recorded.
The Ethics Committee at Waverley Abbey College have approved this research project, and all data will be collected and handled in line with the College’s Data Protection Policy.
To register your interest, request more information, or to ask any questions (in haiku or long form) please email: harriet.spencer@waverleyabbeycollege.ac.uk.
