Research participants wanted: Spiritual and transpersonal experiences in counselling

I am a final-year BA (Hons) Integrative Counselling student at New City College, Ardleigh Green Campus. My research explores how counsellors understand and work with clients’ spiritual or transpersonal experiences within therapeutic practice.

The study aims to gain insight into counsellors’ experiences and perspectives when clients bring spiritual or transpersonal material into therapy, including how they make sense of and respond to these experiences, and how their own beliefs and values may influence their practice.

Who can take part?

  • I am looking for participants who:
  • are registered members of the BACP
  • are based in the UK
  • have been practising as a qualified counsellor for a minimum of three years
  • have experience of clients bringing spiritual or transpersonal material into the therapeutic space

What does participation involve?

Participation will involve a one-to-one semi-structured interview via Microsoft Teams, lasting up to one hour and arranged at a mutually convenient time. The interview will explore your experiences and perspectives of working therapeutically with spiritual or transpersonal material. Participation is entirely voluntary. Interview data will be anonymised and stored securely in accordance with GDPR. The study has received ethical approval from New City College.
