I am currently embarking upon a research project for my MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice at Bath Spa University into the experiences of counselling for parents of autistic children and young adults.

The research aims to identify what counselling provides to parents of children and young adults with autism, as well as to identify helpful and unhelpful elements of the process and explore what supports mental health for the parents of autistic children and young adults.

I am interested in hearing from you if:

You are you a parent of an autistic child or young adult aged 5 - 25 who has been diagnosed for at least a year

AND

Have received counselling as support of your role as a parent of an autistic child or young adult.

I am looking to recruit 6 participants and plan to conduct either a 30 minute semi-structured interview or 9 question questionnaire.

I will not ask participants to disclose any details about their child or young adult.

All data will be fully anonymised and will be analysed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis.

This data will then be included in my research dissertation, a summary of which will be available to all participants upon completion.

All responses from participants are strictly confidential and will be stored securely according to GDPR.

If you match the above criteria and you are interested in learning more about the study, I would love to hear from you.

Please contact Linda Henderson on linda.henderson24@bathspa.ac.uk  and you will be sent a Participant Information Sheet with further details and a consent form.

You can see the Participant Information Sheet here and the Poster here.

Thank you!
