I am looking for qualified counsellors who identify as biracial (having parents or heritage from two distinct racial or ethnic backgrounds), who are willing to give 60 minutes of their time to participate in an interview via Microsoft Teams.

Within the semi-structured interview, you will be invited to share your experience of your biracial identity and how it influences your work with clients. Interviews will take place between October and December 2026, at a time that suits you. The interview will be audio-recorded and transcribed, and your contribution will be anonymized. I will base my MA counselling research project dissertation on the contributions received.

My hope is that this will add to the pool of research around multiracial / cultural counselling specifically around the themes of mixed-race identity and therapeutic rapport.

To be eligible to participate, you must:

  • Identify as biracial (having parents or heritage from two distinct racial or ethnic backgrounds)
  • Be a qualified counsellor or psychotherapist, in practice, with a minimum of 2 y ears of experience
  • Be comfortable discussing identity, race, and the therapeutic relationship in an open, exploratory way
  • Be willing to participate in a semi-structured interview (approximately 60 minutes) via Microsoft Teams

This study has received ethical approval from the Waverley Abbey College Research Ethics Committee.
