How the manosphere plays a role in help-seeking behaviours and the therapeutic relationship.
1-hour teams interview 1:1
Projected beginning September ‘26
Have you had any young male clients (18-30 years old) involved in the manosphere?
Hi my name is Oliver and I am currently a post-grad at London Metropolitan University looking for participants in my dissertation study. My goal in this study is to investigate how therapists feel the manosphere can impact young males, especially around getting help for their mental health.
I'm interested in understanding it both as a potential barrier to seeking help and as something that can play a role in the therapeutic relationship. By speaking with therapists such as yourselves, I hope to find answers to questions like: what barriers do you perceive in working with these young men, how has this played a role in the therapeutic relationship, and what did it feel like for you to work with these young men?
Ideally, this information can be used to start understanding the barriers young males face in getting professional help both before and after they enter the manosphere and help therapists to work with them effectively and safely.
If your clients have given you the experience to contribute towards this study and you feel happy to do so or simply want more information, please email me at oeg0008@my.londonmet.ac.uk.
All participant information will be anonymised, and no participants will be expected to break confidentiality/ethical guidelines regarding their clients.
Can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable doing, and participation can be withdrawn for 2 weeks from your interview date.
Please see here to view the participant information sheet.
