BACP’s ICT infrastructure team lead Ben Gregory is tackling Movember in memory of a former workmate.

Ben is grooming his way to a moustache this year to encourage men to talk about their physical and mental health issues.

He is inspired by his former trainee Aidan Oakley and has named his Mo Space Aidan Oakley’s Slipknot Appreciation Society.

“Aidan was my man,” said Ben. “Those of us who knew him try to celebrate him.

“He loved the band Slipknot. He used to joke with me all the time that he was a fan of them and I wasn’t, so I named my team after them."

“It is a very important cause. Guys don’t talk enough about their physical health and about their mental health.

“Movember is about raising awareness, getting men to speak to a counsellor or see their doctor rather than ‘manning up’.

“Aidan took his own life and didn’t tell anyone about his problems. The first we knew he was gone. So this is something that is very important to me.”

You can support Ben via his Movember page.

And see the BACP therapist directory to talk to a counsellor or therapist.
