Our Online Learning Resources Designer/Developer Ian Hallsworth-Jeeves is taking part in Movember in memory of his dad, Alan.

Ian is growing a moustache during November to encourage men to talk about their physical and mental health issues.

He said: “My dad died of cancer some 10 years ago and this is something I have been wanting to do, so this year I thought I’d just do it.

“It’s very itchy and my wife doesn’t like it but it’s for a great cause.”

What is Movember?

Movember is an annual charity event, during which people are encouraged to grow a moustache for November and be sponsored to do so.

It is overseen by the Movember Foundation, a charity set up in 2003 to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues.

The charity’s particular focus is on mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. It has raised more than £440m to help fund men's health projects since it was launched.

You can support Ian via his Movember page.

And you can find to a BACP counsellor near you via our Therapist directory.
