We want to take this opportunity to correct recent misinformation and to reiterate that as Board members we’re responsible for setting and leading BACP’s strategic direction, and ultimately, shaping the future of the Association.

Whether elected, co-opted or appointed, we’re individually answerable to the Charity Commission and we’re collectively responsible for making decisions on behalf of the membership. In making such decisions, we’re always fully briefed by BACP’s management team and supported by our legal advisors, whose advice enables us to  carry out these important duties. It’s important to clarify that neither our management team nor the CEO can, or would attempt to, make these decisions on our behalf.

As members of the Board, we’re aware of the responsibility of our role and that the decisions we make have a significant impact on the workings of the Association, our members, their clients, and the wider profession. We take on board feedback from across our membership when making decisions and aim to act in the best interests of the charity.

This is an undertaking that we take very seriously, and we’re proud of the work that we’re doing to represent you.

Yours sincerely,

The BACP Board of Trustees
