About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I'm Sue and I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist working online across the UK and in-person in North Yorkshire.
I offer counselling online to give you the flexibility to meet from your own home or chosen safe place; if you prefer to meet in person then I offer appointments from my lovely private office in Pateley Bridge near Harrogate.
I'm an integrative therapist which means that I use a wide range of models, techniques and ideas to fit as closely as possible to your needs as they grow and change.
Practice description
In looking to explore counselling you may be facing a specific challenge or perhaps have the feeling that things just aren't right; that you're working very hard just to appear ‘okay’.
Do your thinking patterns no longer seem to work for you? Perhaps you have you suffered trauma or neglect in the past and are struggling with the way you see yourself? Are you are investigating the possibility of neurodivergence e.g. ADHD or autism? Are you in a difficult relationship or perhaps having difficulties setting boundaries that keep you safe within relationships? Are you struggling to come to terms with loss or bereavement?
If you've been hoping to confide in someone; to have someone fully prepared to listen; to explore with you and to support you through change then do get in touch. In a safe, non judgemental space we can work to untangle what is going on, look at how things might change and perhaps develop strategies to foster your recovery and wellbeing and feel more wholly yourself.
Pretending to be 'fine' can be exhausting. I believe that recovery from mental distress requires compassionate understanding as well as a valuing of your experiences and who you are. Clients have described me as compassionate and kind as well as nurturing and challenging.
If you're ready for support and change, feel free to get in touch with any questions or to book an appointment.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I'm Sue and I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist working online across the UK and in-person in North Yorkshire.
I offer counselling online to give you the flexibility to meet from your own home or chosen safe place without having to add the time and complexity of travelling to an appointment. Working online has proved useful and productive for many clients over the last four years with feelings of connection, development and being heard and valued reported in a similar way to in-person meetings.
I'm an integrative therapist which means that I use a wide range of models, techniques and ideas to fit as closely as possible to your needs as they grow and change.

I may help you to seek to understand more fully how your past might colour your present; develop strategies to manage unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours and their associated physical effects; or simply listen to you talk about difficult or painful experiences which you really want to safely share.
Pretending to be 'fine' can be exhausting. I believe that recovery from mental distress requires compassionate understanding as well as a valuing of your experiences and who you are. Clients have described me as compassionate and kind as well as nurturing and challenging.

My first session
I am happy to arrange a free twenty minute phone call so that we can decide if we'd like to work together. This usually takes the form of a summary from me about how I work; a brief outline from you about what it is you're looking for and a chance for you to ask any questions you may have.
I've been described as warm and approachable so there's no need to worry about our first chat or meeting!
I look forward to hearing from you.
