About me and my therapy practice
My work is informed by psychoanalytic, existential and humanistic theory and I have a specific interest in body-mind connection, self-compassion and mindfulness. What this means in practice is that I focus on the needs of each individual in a unique and dynamic way.
My presence as a therapist can be described as down-to-earth, authentic and guided by genuine curiosity about the human experience. I offer a healthy balance of empathy and challenge and a supportive, non-judgemental, safe and fully confidential space in which we can explore your experience in the world and the issues that may be troubling you.
We can explore both the present and the past. We can slow down and try to understand more fully what's truly happening in the present moment, tune into your felt experience and explore if any cognitive thought distortions might be present. We can also explore if your past experiences, such as a stressful home environment, emotional neglect or strict control whilst growing up, rejection, abuse (emotional, physical, sexual), complicated relationships, are unprocessed or still having a powerful effect on your present life. We can also explore the existential givens (freedom, responsibility, death, uncertainty etc.) and the absurdity of life. All of this can be done with gentle curiosity and by putting your needs as a client in the center.
I am passionate about helping you gain greater self-awareness and understanding through which you can live life in a more authentic, comfortable and fulfilling way.
I have several years of experience working therapeutically within the mental health sector, with a background in social care and youth work.
Alongside private practice, I used to work as a counsellor at an LGBTQ+ mental health charity and at King’s College London.
