About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, do have a read of my profile and if you have any questions feel free to send me a message.

I work largely using Transactional Analysis which examines the way we interact with both ourselves and others. It explores unhelpful patterns of thinking, behaving and communicating in the here-and-now that may have been formed by our experiences in the past. Therefore, my personal approach is looking at how our past both influences and reinforces our current challenges.

In addition to Transactional Analysis I am also a qualified Trauma Focussed therapist which enables me to work with people who wish to explore trauma in therapy, with an initial focus on safety and stabilisation.

Alongside exploring the root cause of the difficulties someone is experiencing, I also work on strategies to relieve symptoms of current mental distress and discomfort such as anxiety, panic attacks and depression.

In addition to my private practice I work in Health and Social Care, specialising in addiction, offending, complex trauma and domestic abuse.

Practice description

I see clients online on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for 50 minute sessions. We can meet weekly or fortnightly.

There is no set time frame for how long we can work together. Some people attend for 6-8 sessions and others work for much longer, this very much depends on your personal goals.

The work follows a pace and level that is comfortable for you as an individual and we regularly review the process together.

About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, do take a look at my profile and feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

I am an accredited member of the BACP and have a Diploma in Supervision.

My core modality is Transactional Analysis which is a model for understanding human personality, relationships and communication. It was developed by psychiatrist Eric Berne.

As a theory of personality, TA gives a theory of how people are structured psychologically within Parent, Adult and Child ego states. It also provides a theory of child development, with the concept of life script explaining how our present life patterns originated in childhood, including how we replay childhood strategies in adult life, even when these produce results that are self-defeating or painful.

The tools of TA are used in therapy, educational settings, management and organisational analysis.

I am also a qualified Trauma Focussed Therapist and I am currently in foundation training in Forensic Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Practice description

My practice has become more integrative over time. This has been largely due to working in Health and Social Care settings where I have developed and adapted my skill set for particular client groups.

I specialise in working with clients with multiple disadvantage, such as addiction, offending, complex trauma and domestic abuse.

I have worked in prisons, homeless hostels, drug and alcohol services and as a women's specialist outreach therapist. This has resulted in an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding and complex client presentations. I also have a personal understanding of the impact of working within an organisation.

I also have a private practice where I work online with clients who struggle with a wide range of issues such as relationship breakdown, work difficulties, health issues and bereavement.

I work largely within the 7 Eyed Model of supervision, also with a developmental and systems approach. I review work with supervisees regularly to ensure that the process is meeting your needs.

In my view, supervision should be a space where you feel supported and free to explore and grow as a practitioner.

Sessions can be 50 minutes to 1.5 hours and we can meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Online sessions available only.

I currently work with supervisees from a wide range of modalities.

For Transactional Analysis trainees please note that I am not CTA.
