About me and my therapy practice
I offer a therapeutic relationship where you can be yourself, and also experiment with other ways of being, rather than being told who you should be.
I’m a humanistic and psychodynamic therapist who adapts how I work depending on who you are and what you need. My style is engaged, relational, collaborative, and at times direct; underpinned by a steady, compassionate trauma-informed approach that pays attention to the nervous system and how experiences are held in the body.
Practice description
The ways we think, relate, and cope are often developed for good reason earlier in life; the difficulty is that they don’t always translate well into adulthood. Strategies that once helped now get in the way. We often find ourselves repeating the same patterns that adversely impact our relationships, leaving us feeling disconnected from others and ourselves.
Therapy is about making sense of that. Not just insight for its own sake, but awareness that leads to change. I can help you understand yourself and your relationship with the world around you, so you can be better equipped to face life’s challenges and gain emotional resilience and maturity.
I take this work seriously and offer a committed presence throughout our time together, whether it’s short or long-term work.
My first session
Our first session is a chance for me to get to know you and to understand your needs and expectations of therapy, I use an assessment form to assist with this.
I will set some time aside for us to discuss our agreement and answer any queries that you may have.
