About me and my therapy practice
I completely understand that the idea of therapy can be overwhelming. Maybe you have been feeling low, anxious or stressed and you are not quite sure where to begin or who might be the right therapist for you. Struggling with mental health can leave people feeling hopeless, but it is very common for complicated feelings like these to surface and you are not alone.
By making the active decision to start therapy, you have already prioritised understanding yourself better, healing, and wanting to take back some control of your life.
My practice involves creating a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space, where I will bring empathy and compassion to your concerns. I am here to support your mental health: I encourage you to be yourself and hope you feel both held and heard in our sessions.
I work as an integrative practitioner. This means that I draw upon different psychological schools of thought in my practice and that I am able to apply techniques from a variety of approaches to suit your needs. The modalities I mostly draw upon in my work are Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I have experience working with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients. I also specialise in working with clients who are struggling with issues regarding having jobs in the arts.
I have worked with clients experiencing various challenges, including by not limited to: low self-esteem, issues with identity/relationship with self, body image, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)/obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD), overthinking, existential thoughts, depression, relationship problems, financial issues, and loneliness.
Practice description
I work as an integrative practitioner. This means that I draw upon different psychological schools of thought in my practice and that I am able to apply techniques from a variety of approaches to suit your needs. The modalities I mostly draw upon in my work are Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
My approach is supportive and reflective and sometimes even a lightness can be found in difficult work.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) I abide by their ethical guidelines and ensure that they underpin and inform my practice. Alongside my degree in Counselling, I also have a Level 3 Diploma in Life Coaching. Therefore, if required, I can utilise a more targeted, goal-oriented processes.
I believe in working collaboratively with you, applying a variety of integrated techniques that gently challenge you in ways that feel both comfortable and effective. One of the most important parts of the therapeutic process is the dynamic we build together. A connection that is fostered through compassion, authenticity and care. Your experience of life is unique to you.
I take pride in creating a relationship with my clients where they are met with warmth, openness and respect. Meeting you as you are in the here and now, together we can develop some insights into your world and unearth the tools to help you face the future with a renewed sense of hope.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute consultation on the phone, this can be really helpful in working out what you would like to explore in therapy and whether we feel it would be a good fit.
I really care about people and how they encounter the world around them and appreciate that an individual’s circumstances will affect how they experience therapy. In addition to therapy I have also worked as a carer therefore I have lots of experience with helping vulnerable adults.
My sessions are 50 minutes long and I currently offer online or face-to-face therapy. If you are interested in working together, feel free to get in touch and we can start with a free consultation.
Look forward to hearing from you.
