About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome:) My name is Jacqui and I am a UK trained therapist based in central Bath. I practice a style of therapy called Humanistic and Integrative counselling, combining an empathetic approach with an underpinning of different therapeutic techniques to support your personal growth. It is an approach that can help you explore your feelings and overcome challenges in a way that feels right for you.

I bring my own personal journey as a wife, mother to young adult children, daughter, sister and friend, offering what I believe to be a powerful blend of real life experience with solid theoretical training. I specialise in working with individuals, offering a safe, supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and life’s challenges.

My own experience of seeking therapeutic support has had a profound influence on my practice; I understand what it feels like to be uncertain, overwhelmed, or disconnected - and how good it feels to feel truly heard and understood. I am committed to making the therapeutic process as accessible as possible, extending a warm welcome and a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where you can feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their strict Codes of Ethics, ensuring that you receive the highest standard of care.

Practice description

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel really daunting, but it doesn't have to be. Here's what you can expect:

• A Warm Welcome: Your comfort is my priority; I aim to put you at your ease from the moment we meet

• Understanding Your Needs: We'll spend time getting to know each other; I’ll listen to what brings you to counselling and what you hope to achieve.

• Setting the Pace: There’s no rush. We’ll work together at a pace that feels right for you, ensuring you feel safe and supported throughout. Whether you prefer short-term counselling to address a specific issue or an open-ended approach for deeper exploration, it's entirely up to you.

My first session

We will usually have spoken on the phone before we meet, so that I can understand what you are looking for from therapy and you can ask me any questions you might have.

Our first session 50 minute session follows on from this and includes a more detailed assessment of your current and past mental health; it is also another opportunity for you to ask me any questions about how I work and to look at what your goals from therapy are. It is important that you feel comfortable with me and that we feel we can work together.

This process helps to inform our ongoing work - should we decide to continue to work together after this initial session - and to give you an idea of what to expect from counselling.
