About me and my therapy practice

As a dedicated and compassionate psychotherapist with over 17 years experience and as an accredited member of the BACP,  my aim is to help you achieve greater mental and emotional health.

My educational foundation includes a Bachelors Degree in Psychology (BA Hons 2:1) and a Masters degree in Health Psychology, giving me a deep understanding of the complexities of human behaviour and well-being.

I am DBS checked and BUPA recognised , ensuring a secure and accessible therapeutic experience.

My therapeutic approach blends the proven effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with the compassionate elements of third-wave therapies like Compassion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness and distress tolerance. This comprehensive approach allows us to address the cognitive aspects of anxiety and depression , but also nurture self compassion , emotional regulation and resilience.

I specialise in anxiety ( eg. Health anxiety, social anxiety generalised anxiety, panic) , depression, long term health issues, life threatening illness , cancer diagnoses and bereavement. With experience spanning the charity sector , private practice and employment assistance programmes, I offer a holistic and tailored approach to your unique needs.

In our sessions, you'll find a safe and supportive environment to explore and understand your thoughts , feelings and behaviours. Where we'll navigate the complexities of your inner world and work together towards lasting positive changes in your mental health and overall well-being.

Whether you prefer remote sessions (online or via telephone) or whether you prefer face to face meetings (where availability permits) , I where possible will accommodate your preferences. I adhere to the strict ethical guidelines outlined by the BACP, ensuring a professional and confidential environment and my practice is regularly supervised by a qualified supervisor. Our sessions are held on a weekly basis providing continuity and momentum in our work together

My first session

The therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of effective therapy , its a partnership built on trust , empathy and collaboration. To ensure we're the right fit for one another, I offer a brief telephone or zoom chat, free of charge, before agreeing to further appointments.  This initial conversation allows us to gauge our compatibility and comfort in working together , as its about finding the right connection that fosters a safe and supportive environment for you to explore, grow and heal.
