The aim of this research is to explore how adult psychotherapists who are parents of neurodivergent children experience and make sense of their personal and professional lives.

I am undertaking this project as part of my MSc Psychotherapy and Counselling, and as the parent of a neurodivergent child myself I have a personal connection to the topic. I hope the study will deepen understanding of how personal and professional experiences interact in the lives of psychotherapists, and it addresses a gap in current research.

Who can participate?

BACP-registered or UKCP-registered qualified psychotherapists or counsellors in clinical practice who care for at least one neurodivergent child of school age with a recognised diagnosis (between the ages of 5 and 18).

What will taking part involve?

You will be asked to take part in a semi-structured interview online, which is expected to last 60-90 minutes.

The research will be using phenomenological inquiry to explore the rich and diverse unique lived experience of individual participants.
