Psychotherapeutic / Counselling Approaches

  • Systemic psychotherapy focuses on your relationships. How do you manage and act with others? What patterns of behaviour do you have that may or may not be helpful? Some of these patterns come from our childhood and families, others come from our experiences of life in general. When we recognize them we can start to manage them and not repeat them
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy looks at how our environment, thoughts, behaviours, physical reactions and emotions are interconnected and how one affects the others. It is an intervention that aims to challenge and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and improve emotional regulation.
  • I use other models including Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy and Rogerian Humanistic Therapy

My first session

The initial meeting is a free 15 minute screening session on Zoom to ensure you're happy with my format and to gain an idea of what the issues might be and whether I can help.

Following this, the first session includes the following:

  1. Introductions and a general overview of the problem(s)
  2. Brief psychological questionnaire to overview your current mental health in general terms
  3. Life history. A brief overview of any major life events that may or may not still be affecting you
  4. Administration. The way I work, what I can and cannot do. What you can expect of me. Your rights to confidentiality and a contract of our work together
