Hello!

I'm Usha and I am originally from Southampton but am now living in Mauritius.

I work online with individuals who are based in the UK and also internationally (except for the USA and Canada).

My hours are flexible. However, due to the time difference, I am not currently offering evening sessions (as from 4 pm GMT).                                                                                                                                                      Please do get in contact to see if working together could be a possibility!

About me and my therapy practice

Did you start the new year hoping for a ‘New You'? But instead, you’re finding that nothing has changed and you feel stuck in a loop, kind of like Groundhog Day, reliving the same life day after day after day? Perhaps you want to get out of this loop, but have no idea how.

We all need a place where we can speak freely about worries and fears, and needs. Sometimes, although well-meaning- you might feel friends and family don’t hear you in the way that you need.

I can help you by offering a space just for you. I can be a curious, compassionate companion to help you explore what might be keeping you stuck, and preventing you from moving forward in your life.

I am an online person-centred therapist, which means that you will be able to freely explore what is on your mind. We will work together so that you may be able to understand the issues with more clarity, and therefore, come to your own conclusions and find your own solutions.

I have a BSc in Psychology and a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling. I am a member of the BACP (The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Practice description

I would love to offer you a place where you may feel comfortable and safe in expressing yourself, without fear of any judgement.

Contact me at ushascounselling@gmail.com or on +230 5841 2640, and I aim to get back to you within 1 working day. If I have not gotten back to you, please make sure to check your spam box!

I also offer e-mail counselling which is helpful for you if you find writing to be an easier way to express yourself. Some advantages of e-mail counselling are not needing to plan a specific, recurring time each week. This might be useful if you work in shifts, or have flexible working patterns. E-mail counselling also allows you the time to think about what you want to write about.

Sessions for video counselling will be 60 minutes each.

I offer both short term and long term therapy.

The fee for both video and email counselling is £40.

Please contact me via email if you are interested in starting counselling.

My first session

I completely understand that the idea of starting counselling, and talking to a total stranger is often a very daunting thought!

So, with that thought in mind, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call (on Zoom or WhatsApp - with or without video if you wish) to understand more about your reasons for seeking counselling. This is also a great opportunity for us to meet each other to see if we can be a good match to work together. It will also give you the chance to ask any questions you may have.

Practice description

Counselling will provide you with the opportunity to explore your issues in a safe and confidential way, without the fear of being judged. You will have the space to speak about whatever you wish, and we will work at your pace.

As I work solely online ( I am currently not based in the UK), video sessions are conducted via Zoom.

I also offer e-mail counselling which is helpful for those who might find writing to be an easier way to communicate. Some advantages of e-mail counselling are not needing to plan a specific, recurring time each week. This might be useful if you work in shifts, or have flexible working patterns. I offer both short term and long term therapy.

The fee for both video and email counselling is £35 ( For counselling students/ trainees only*).

*Evidence will be required for counselling students/trainees.

In the past, I have worked with the charity Life Changes, which provides low-cost counselling to individuals. I have also volunteered with Yellow Door (formerly Southampton Rape Crisis).
