About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Louise, an Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor based in London.

I offer in-person sessions in Walthamstow, North East London as well as online counselling, using Zoom for sessions.

People come to counselling for many reasons. You may be here because you’ve experienced a recent loss or trauma, or have painful feelings that you’ve always carried with you. You may be feeling depressed, anxious or hopeless and your usual ways of coping aren’t working so well anymore. Or you may be feeling stuck in your life or career and would like to make a change, but you’re not sure which way to turn.

It takes courage to explore painful experiences. It can be difficult to acknowledge and let go of familiar patterns and ways of coping.

Counselling provides a supportive and non-judgemental space to do this work, and begin (or continue) a process of healing and transformation.

I will listen, support and, when appropriate, gently challenge you to help you to find new and creative ways to understand and work through your current difficulty or distress, and move forward in your life.

As a queer person, I've worked through issues of identity, difference and oppression.

I worked for three years as a volunteer counsellor at the East London Out Project (ELOP), a charity which provides low-cost counselling to LGBTQ+ people before setting up a private practice specialising in working with LGBTQ+ people.

Practice description

As an Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches in my work. These include transpersonal, Jungian, psychodynamic and Gestalt. I give a place to soul and soulfulness, which means viewing difficult experiences as a meaningful part of our journey towards wholeness, wisdom and self-acceptance.

This doesn’t mean being insensitive to painful experiences and feelings, but recognising that attempts to deny them or 'focus on the positive' can create more suffering or be a temporary 'sticking plaster' solution. We need to engage deeply with our wounding in order to integrate and ultimately transform it, and empower ourselves to make changes in our lives.

We may sometimes work with dreams, stories, images, movement and embodiment to access less conscious material and connect you with the wisdom and healing potential of your body, creativity and intuition - and heal your connection to these if they have been ruptured through trauma.

You can expect me to be curious and an active participant in the therapeutic process. I will help you to be authentic, relational and vulnerable by being so myself.

I’m experienced in providing therapy to people with issues around sexuality and gender identity, including people who are lesbian, gay, bi, pan, queer, asexual and questioning and genders including trans, non-binary, genderqueer and cis people.

My first session

The relationship between a counsellor and client is the key to successful therapy. I offer a free 30-minute consultation on the phone to help you see if you’d like to work with me.

If we decide to work together, we would usually arrange to meet weekly at a regular time for a 50-minute session. I offer short and long-term counselling. We may decide to start with a fixed number of sessions to start with, and then review how it’s going.
