About me and my therapy practice
During lockdown, I am here to help you via Online and Telephone counselling sessions. Normally I work from a clinic in Cookridge (LS16) and a clinic in Leeds City Centre, but I have adapted my service to online in order to respond to the current coronavirus crisis. I graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have since become an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means my practice has been deemed to meet the BACP’s higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.
People seek counselling for various reasons, whether it be to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth. Being self-aware and having the capability to think and feel emotions with clarity and understanding is what allows us to make the changes to restore balance, purpose and enhance our lives.
Everything we discuss is held in the strictest of confidence as set out by the ethical framework of the BACP. There are absolutely no conditions or expectations placed upon you. Therapy goes at your pace, it is your time, you are in control. It is a unique journey. It is not about me giving you the answers. It is about us working together to understand your world, yourself and discover your own inner resources. Only the decisions you make will empower you.
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist meaning lots of theories make up my therapeutic toolbox - every client is different; I don’t use a ‘one size fits all’ approach, but the single most important factor of therapy is the relationship we strike up. Having a good rapport with your therapist is essential for productive therapy, therefore allowing different theories to inform my work enables me to find the best fit for you.
I have additional training in:
• Online Counselling
• Sand Tray Therapy
• CBTE for Eating Disorders
• Play Therapy
• Gestalt Skills
• Trauma and the body
