About me and my therapy practice
You might be seeking therapy for a number of different reasons. Perhaps you’re finding the world a very uncertain place right now and are feeling overwhelmed. You might want to talk to someone who won’t judge you. Or you might find yourself in a crisis which seems difficult to move on from. Perhaps you are looking for a space to have time to reflect on where you have got to in life and provide fresh impetus for personal growth and a possible change of direction. Or maybe you are wanting the opportunity to make sense of past experiences which might hinder you now.
If you find yourself distressed, confused, seeking a change in direction or simply wanting someone to talk to, I can help. My personal experience of therapy has shown me that struggles can be a catalyst for change and personal growth.
By building a trusting relationship with you and a safe space in which you can talk openly, without judgment, together we can explore the things that are troubling you and what you seek; how your life has been and how you would like it to be now.
My clients come from all walks of life and bring a wide range of issues that are troubling them and that they wish to explore. I have spent a large part of my working life in Africa, developing educational media for rural audiences. A vital part of this work has been to listen to people, however different their backgrounds and experiences are from my own, and communicate in an empathetic and non-judgemental way.
I also have extensive experience of working with clients who have been to boarding school.
Practice description
I am a qualified integrative therapist. I trained at the Minster Centre, London and am a BACP Registered Member (Number 382194). I adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics.
I draw on a number of different therapeutic approaches that relate to different aspects of you; emotional, spiritual, relational, physical. I choose the ones that are best suited to you and your needs. I see my role as helping you to explore your experiences and ways of being, in a safe environment, with a view to identifying together how best to deal with the particular challenges you are facing. I work in a safe, non-judgement and empathetic way; listening to you and what you bring is key.
I offer short term work or open-ended, depending on your requirements.
Currently I offer on-line and phone therapy so am able to work with you, wherever you are located. When the current crisis is over I will resume offering face to face sessions, either on the farm where I live in Oxfordshire or in Oxford or London.
I believe our environment can have a significant impact on our well-being. My practice room on the farm is light and spacious, overlooking the garden, with fields and trees beyond. Being so closely connected to nature offers a peacefulness and groundedness which you are welcome to share.
My first session
Finding the right therapist for you is really important and the first session is an opportunity for us both to see if we feel we can work well together.
You can contact me initially either by phone or by email. I will get back to you and suggest a time when we can meet - either on-line or on the phone - to talk about what it is you would like to get out of therapy and see if you think I am the right person for you. Towards the end of the session I will outline some of the more practical aspects of working with me.
If we decide to work together we will then find a time that suits us both for us to meet each week; currently either on-line or phone, but with the option to meet face-to-face in due course, if that works for you. I do not charge for the initial session which lasts 50 minutes. Subsequent sessions, should we decide to work together cost £50 for 50 minutes.
I look forward to talking with you.
