About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Phil.
These are unsettling times; and whatever your reason for seeking support right now, I’m glad you’ve found my listing.
Counselling is about change. Whatever brings you here today, it’s likely to involve a desire for change in your life; for something to be or feel different to how it is for you now.
At the moment, I am working primarily via videocall (Zoom), but also offer counselling by telephone, or email exchange. I offer a limited number of socially-distanced outdoor 'walk & talk' sessions each week - if this would interest you, please check current availability when we speak.
Before qualifying as a Counsellor, I spent over 20 years providing HR support, training and executive coaching for a number of City firms. I'm therefore very aware of the challenges and pressures of modern corporate life, and now specialise in working with people affected by The City.My fees is £70 for weekly sessions.
I offer a limited number of concessionary sessions each week (e.g. for clients in receipt of certain state benefits).
My aim, when we work together, is that we build a relationship where you feel heard, understood, accepted and supported; and that you feel able to trust me as we explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I like to think of it as a "collaborative alliance". Through this relationship, we can explore your concerns, find ways to deal with them, and better manage your life.
You may find that a few sessions can help you to address a specific problem, or you may choose to work on a longer-term basis in order to focus on deeper issues. You are unique and I will work with you to find out which approaches will work best for you. Whichever approach we agree on, be aware that counselling is not an easy journey and requires commitment; there is no magic wand!

I offer a free telephone consultation to see whether counselling might help you.
In the initial meeting, we will find out what you are looking for from therapy and what works for you.
I use an integrated approach to therapy that includes psychodynamic, person centered, existential and transpersonal models. If it is right for you, some of the ways we may work will be more creative, such as drawings, dreamwork, visualisations and mindfulness.
