About me and my therapy practice
What I offer - Life has its many challenges. If you are struggling, feeling stuck and finding it difficult to move forward in life you are not alone, and counselling may help you. I offer a safe confidential service in a private setting for you to make sense of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are causing distress. I will not make decisions for you but will support you in working through and understanding them with clarity using the skills, training and experience I have gained.
• Fifty-minute sessions cost £50 each
• Reduced rates for students (£35.00 per session)
• Negotiable fees for long-term clients.
What it might feel like - It is common for people to feel apprehensive about talking about issues that are troubling them. No matter how big or small the dilemma, taking care of your needs and looking after yourself is an important first step. To be human means we don’t always get it right in messy complicated lives. I am here to help you make sense of what troubles you in a safe, confidential setting. Insight can be both a painful and wonderful process, however the benefits provide possibilities and choice encouraging positive change and personal growth. This can be empowering and lessen feelings of helplessness in many situations.
Who I am - I completed NCFE Levels 2 and 3 in Counselling skills, Level 4 certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Theory and went on to obtaining the Foundation Degree Arts in Integrative Counselling at Newman University in Birmingham. I have completed numerous courses in continued professional development (CPD) relevant to my role as a counselling psychotherapist. I have a down to earth, practical compassionate persona with a non-judgemental, genuine and honest attitude. In practice, my model of therapy moulds to your individual needs working collaboratively towards change.
What to expect: Upon contact, I agree a time to call you for an initial brief telephone call to discuss your needs and to agree session costs. This provides an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have prior to booking. Information is then emailed to you providing clear instructions to my location which is in a rural setting with ample parking. The first session includes contracting between us, covering confidentiality and expectations, for example, period of notice when cancelling a session and guidance around any covid restrictions that may be in place. A risk assessment is also completed to assess any issues that may effect your safety. The remainder of the session is then focused on the issue you would like to talk about. We then agree a time and date for your next session which is followed with a text reminder. Supporting information may be emailed to you with your consent depending on the focus of the session.
